January 2008) to be exact, I did the most stupidest thing. I crossed a
stop sign that was still red. I know… its dumb. Since I became a
driver, I swore to myself that I’ll always try my best to follow the
rules. Like I said, I was drawn by instinct. Ok so this is how it
happened:
I was on the corner of J. Vargas and some other
street. I was the 2nd car to the front of the stop sign and I there
was a Toyota Fortuner in front of me. Anyway, I was there sitting and
waiting for the sign to turn green when suddenly the car in front of me
pulled away to cross the intersection. Instinctively my body shifted
the car in 1st gear and stepped on the gas, while my mind was racing to
process this action by car in front of me…. "Is the stop sign
broken?" "Was there an MMDA authority there that initiated us to go?"
All of this questions made my body decide to go. As I was halfway
through the intersection, I noticed the cars on my left honking and
started to go. I knew I was in trouble… I made the wrong choice.
Good thing my body new what to do… slow down and join the traffic
and turned left (which was what I initially wanted to do in the first
place). Cars slowed down and let me pass. Thank God!
Instinct got me in to this mess and instinct save me.
