Just a couple of days ago, Monday (28
January 2008) to be exact, I did the most stupidest thing.  I crossed a
stop sign that was still red.  I know… its dumb.  Since I became a
driver, I swore to myself that I’ll always try my best to follow the
rules.  Like I said, I was drawn by instinct.  Ok so this is how it
happened:

I was on the corner of J. Vargas and some other
street.  I was the 2nd car to the front of the stop sign and I there
was a Toyota Fortuner in front of me.  Anyway, I was there sitting and
waiting for the sign to turn green when suddenly the car in front of me
pulled away to cross the intersection.  Instinctively my body shifted
the car in 1st gear and stepped on the gas, while my mind was racing to
process this action by car in front of me…. "Is the stop sign
broken?" "Was there an MMDA authority there that initiated us to go?"
All of this questions made my body decide to go.  As I was halfway
through the intersection, I noticed the cars on my left honking and
started to go.  I knew I was in trouble… I made the wrong choice.
Good thing my body new what to do…  slow down and join the traffic
and turned left (which was what I initially wanted to do in the first
place).  Cars slowed down and let me pass.  Thank God!

Instinct got me in to this mess and instinct save me.

Dsc01620_2Yesterday, we had our company Xmas party for 2007.  This time, we had a theme: TV Series costume party.  And since I big fan of the show Supernatural, I decided to come in dressed as Dean Winchester.  Of course we know that it isn’t that hard to dress up as Dean, but what can I say.  I’m a cheap bastard and I didn’t want to spend money for a costume that I can find in my closet.  Because of that, I didn’t won the Best Costume award… but I think I looked cool (I heard the cheers from the LADIES mwahahaha).

FYI.  I start updating my blog soon.  My plan is to start in the next week or so… or least until my colleague returns from her vacation and relieves me of her workload hahaha. Anyway, the plan is to put more music reviews of old and new albums.  Most of these would be more into the metal scene… dont expect any EMO reviews here.

Furthermore, I also plan to put up a blog on recent developments in my life.  Namely the migration of my sister-in-law to Australia and my sister who has left for Dubai (who coincidentally just YM-ed me hahaha… speak of the devil).

See you all soon!

I was supposed to name this post "Spider-man 3 is gay!!!", but my wife may read this and she did enjoy the movie.  Alright then, so that no one says that I’m a pompous prick I’ll write a fair review.

So I watched the film last weekend with my beloved wife and unborn child :)  Anyways, even before I watched the movie a friend of mine already gave me a brief overview of the movie.  Basically his review is from the point of view of a comic enthusiast.

So moving on, technically the movie was great.  Great fight scenes, great effects and great actors.  For the first time, we saw Spider-man faced more than 1 enemy, which was a great step for any movie adaptation (besides Spider-man, only Batman was the only movie who was able to provide its hero with more than 1 villain).  Spider-man is a powerful hero and he deserved powerful villains to work with, unlike some stronger pussy-ass hero we know (*cough* *Superman* *cough* *Lex Luther*).  The movie had some good character development for its villain but we could have done without it. They really didn’t matter that much anyways.

From a comic lover and a Spider-man fan like myself, you’d be disappointed by how the characters were presented.  Spider-man was always sad, he didn’t provide the moviegoers with his usually funny lines and how he always made fun of his enemies despite the overwhelming danger he was faced with.  Spider-man was always a fun character and the movie neglected to put that in.  They there were some surprising things about the villains: Sandman never flew, even in his sand form… he ain’t that guy from the Mummy movies; Venom wasn’t scary… not even a bit, I guess that was because they had to get Topher Grace to portray the role.  Its so depressing that all the villains lately have to be so good looking.  Damnit! They’re villains for crying out loud.  They have to be at least scary in human form. Geezzz!  I can understand they had to put some humanity even in the villainous characters, but who needs good looking villain.  Its like trying to make a sexy and good looking zombie… they don’t mix.

The worst thing about this movie was when Peter Parker had that evil streak going.  Now that did happen in the comic version, but he was never a jerk.  He had a angry mood when he had the symbiot and was uncontrollable at times… but he wasn’t an ass like in the movie.  It was just disgusting to watch.  And that piano and dance number… oh man! Its so Pinoy!  Kulang na lang pumunta siya ng beach at kumanta ng remake ng isang old Elvis song!  Sheesh!

I’d say the movie is a good one for the family and for those who have no deep understanding of Spider-man as a whole.  I wont tell anybody to not watch it, they’ll definitely enjoy it.  Especially the kids. But if it was me, I should have waited for the DVD.

my boss here in Devex has already resigned.  leaving a vacant space to be filled and worries popping out left and right.  we’re also planning to have our 2nd baby, so watch out.  i hope its a girl this time.  :)

Logo_devex_1Finally, I found some conclusion to me previous post.  Im joining a new company and Im leaving this shithole so that they can rot in hell hehehe :).  But seriously, I have nothing against the organization itself, just on the way its managed, the rules they make and the people who make it ‘not’ worthwhile.  You know who you are "you fuckin’ pricks"!!!

On the other hand, they have provided me with enough so I can live comfortably and they did help me see my faults and weaknesses.  Im hoping that the lessons learned will be put to use in my new job.

As for the new company Im joining, all I can say is that they provide services that no one else has ever though of.  They are pioneers in the field that they excel.  Im hoping that I can prove to them that I am a good acquisition and will provide them with new insights to the work they have done for the past several years.  Here, I’ll work my ass off (literaly) because I have again found the reasons why I should work.  I again have found the ideals and mission I had when I first started working.  And that is to help people through my work.  I know that my part here is quite insignificant, but I still play a small part in changing the world and making it a better place to live in.

Until next time…. ROCK ON!!!

IraThe problem with these emotions is that they usually manifest themselves during very stressful situations and with people you normally deal with.  Friends, co-workers, loved ones and family.  How do we deal with it?  Is there any methodology that we should apply to asure us that we can either (1) prevent it from happening or (2) assure ourselves that we can resolve it instantly.

People have asked my how I manage conflicts; whether it may be in the workplace or at home.  Here are my thoughts on them:

Workplace:  In this environment, there are a lot of personalities you’d have to deal with.  Some can be real open with their thoughts and emotions, some are very professional and there are a few who wear masks at work.  The later type are in my opinion the hardest to deal with.  They wear their masks to hide their true feelings, emotions and opinions.  Usually, its these types who say things behind your back, both in a positive and negative manner.  They can either praise you or stab you in the back amongst your friends and colleagues.

Home:  You own personal paradise.  But like the paradise described in the Bible, its not all fun and games.  This place comes with rules, you deal with less people and they are much closer to your heart than anyone else and they are bound to hurt you more than the people you deal with at work.  Peace and harmony in this place is very vital.  Without that, you cant really find peace and call it a "HOME".

Now, how do we deal with it.  There are a few things that come to mind on how to deal with hate, conflict and frustration.  What Im going to post here is what I call "my feeble attemp" to find solutions to day-to-day problems.  To put it simply, there are three (3) ways to help us:  (1) CONVINCE, (2) CONCEDE and (3) COMPROMISE.  All three have their pros and cons.  Its up to us which method to use.

CONVINCE:  This method attempts to show someone your point, hopefully a valid one.  This is most effective if the other party is open-minded.  Take note that, we should know when to keep pursuing this method and when to quit.
CONCEDE:  This method is your other resort to the CONVINCE method.  Its as if another person has CONVINCEd you that their points are more valid and you have agreed to it.
COMPROMISE:  This method involves a lot of negotiations.  Here it would seem that both are trying to be both CONVINCErs and CONCEEDers at the same time.  This usually is the most ideal and most used method because most often, both parties agree and are content with the outcome of the negotiations.

Though I may have discussed on the topic briefly, one point that we should remember is that there is no single solution to any problem.  We should try and practice all possible methods.  They will eventually still lead you to your goals.  Also, I think these methods are only for an open-minded person.  Even if your a strong CONVINCEr, you wont win any battle or argument, because you stand to loose a friend or loved one.

See you all soon, take care.

Here’s a poem I composed a couple of years ago.  Dont try and ask me for who it is/was.  The important thing is that this is one of my greatest works…  :D

A Donation of my
Affection
by:  Sidney Lim

Love.  My love.
It is
always in me,
but there are times that it needs someone else.
Someone who
is special,
loving, kind, and extra-ordinary.
Someone like
you.

Each day that passed, every waking moment,
I always think about
you.
Even now as I write you this poem,
images of you flood my mind.
A
blissful smile, a warm hello,
a simple touch, a gaze from your beautiful
eyes.

I have no doubts, no second thoughts.
I am firm in my
acclaims.
How I wish things could be like a dream.
How I wish this dream
could come true.
How I wish that we could love each other freely.

But
alas, complications are everywhere.
Things would not go as planned.
And
the only solution is so drastic that even the strongest man would feel
week.
I feel weak!  Helpless!  Powerless!
Now this dream seems to fade,
and your image seems to disappear.
Before you go (if you do), I ask one thing
in return…..

Please take my heart!
